Sarah Kane / Wanda Galonka
Translation: Marius von Mayenburg

Crave – the last play to premier during Kane’s life time at the Royal Court Theatre – is a quartet. The figures have no names, but are known only by the letters A, B, C and M, they live somewhere between remembering and forgetting, are lost in time and in their biographies. They manage to stick together only through the words they speak to each other, or utter at cross purposes, or say to themselves. Greed is a dramatic composition, a fabric woven of words, a fugue that plays out the permutations of desire. Life may not redeem the desire for love, but keeps its permanently alive in ambivalences: tension, excitement, suffering and conflicts, rape, wooing, mistrust, attraction and rejection, futility.
After 4:48 Psychosis, Wanda Golonka is now for the second time tackling a Sarah Kane production and creating a sensory space in which we experience the word compositions.
